Quote from Electrik Kar :Mine's the same keyboard as yours 96 GTS, but I notice I don't have little star of David's under my CTRL keys. I Wonder why? Also, mine's dark grey at the top and light grey on the bottom- reversed colour scheme.

The little star is just so stupid people know that ctrl+v is paste and such. There's little things that say the commands on the side of the keys.

I was hoping more people would post their actual keyboards, I'm interested to see all the different keyboard layouts as much as all the different keyboards themselves.

Any way you could post a closer shot of your keyboard? I can't make out all the symbols, but it actually looks like there's a lot of differences.
Post Your Keyboard.

I was just thinking the other day, with all the different languages spoken here, and all the people from different countries, it'd be cool to see everyone's keyboards.

Here's mine, a fairly basic Microsoft qwerty wireless keyboard. US layout.

also to anser any awd questions....

nearly All awd cars uses a live rear axel wich transfares all the power to the wheel with most traction so by weight transfare its possable but only for a few seconds ( hence why evos are used with 100 % power going to rear wheels )

I can't actually think of any AWD cars that use a live axle. I can think of 4WD trucks that have live axles, but that's about it.

There are hardly any AWD cars that even have an open diff if that's what you were trying to talk about, as an open rear diff basically negates the whole AWD system...

Umm, okay then.. WTF? Police officers really take their authority way way too far.

Quote from h3adbang3r :If I were you, I'd hang on to the S2 liscense, just in case you want to go back. It is against the EULA to sell your LFS account and if you gave it to a demo user and later deicde you want to race LFS again... Well, you know.

It is NOT against the EULA to sell your license, it's just not well looked upon. You paid for it, you can resell it if you'd like. Just that once you've sold it, you can never use it again.

Quote from Mako. :Umm, a good tip is to check if you have "throttle blip on downshift" turned on. This makes braking a LOT better if you're driving a non-g25 wheel lie a DFP, momo, or a thrustmaster.

I run with it off on my DFP, and just heel and toe downshift The STCC made me do it, with their no driving aids policy, hehe.

I loved how Hamilton used the locked wheels to rotate the car into the corner. Spectacular pass!

Quote from JamesF1 :You'd be surprised what you can do with an unladen 747 - they're quite agile as far as heavies go. Most of that is not that far from believable - what makes it seem so far from reality is that you don't think of a fully-laden passenger jet doing anything but making gentle turns and slow climbs... but that's purely for passenger comfort. Simply removing all the luggage and passengers from a full 747-400 will almost halve it's weight. That gives you some impressive maneuverability for something of that size

I wasn't talking so much about the 747, I've done plenty of craziness in an unladen 747. They are quite maneuverable. I was more talking about the ultralight, there's no way that little ultralight can keep up with a 747, even when the 747 is unloaded, at full flaps, and at stall speed. I'm not quite sure how the F-14 was flying that slow with the wings back in supersonic position either.

Still a spectacular video though.

Fantastic vid, some great flying there too, especially by the ultralight pilot and the 747 pilot

The original Cobra had a body based on the AC Ace (or Bristol, I've read both ways.) The Daytona had a completely new body, but the frame may have been shared. It was still part AC, but less so than the Cobra.

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :Mate, the AC cobra was waaaay faster than the e-type jag. The cobra was/is able to do over 180mph, even faster i think.
And shelby/AC made another model, but a racing one (name??) which went over 200mph. o.O

The Shelby Cobra Daytona, and that had very little to do with AC Cars.

Quote from mrodgers :I'm trying to think of what you mean. Are you talking street cars or race cars? Modern American V8 or classic musclecar era? In the musclecar era, a built up V8 or stock?

Classic, like late 60's mostly, although there was a probably 96 Caprice that sounded the same way. Way built up sounding. Not all the V8s were doing it, but a good share were. I dunno how else to describe it, but like, as soon as they'd let off to shift, the car was like 5 times louder.
Engine Question

Not sure if this should go here, or in general racing talk. It's not really racing related, so I'll post here.

Why is it that big old mostly American V8 engines are louder off throttle than they are actaully accelerating. I was in town the other night, and there's always cruising on weekends. A lot of the cars would accelerate, and be fairly loud, but then as soon as they'd let off the throttle, they'd get two or three times louder.

I dunno if it's high backpressure exhausts causing a lot more engine braking, or what. I'm curious.

I think the actual jumps they do on the stages look cooler, just look at the yumps in the Scandanavian rallies They don't go as high but they're going a heck of a lot faster than he was for that stunt.

Makes me wonder how many skinners have a product reciept for Photoshop, too.

I'm guessing I'm one of the 3 people that do. Student license FTW!

Quote from gohfeld23 :As everyone pointed out, you are very wrong about the turbo lag in LFS. Since day one, there has been way too much in terms of realism.

Another point I'd like to make. Not all tubo cars have turbo lag.
Multiple turbines can greatly reduce lag, even to the point where it's unnoticable.
Also, mainly small engines with large turbos suffer from so called turbo lag, or rather spool time, due to a insufficient amount of exhaust gases they make at low RPM's.
If you ever step into a 6 cylinder turbo that doen't make an enourmous amount of power (around 100-120 HP per litre) there will be no lag, given that the turbo itself is suitable for that particular engine.

But ever 4bangers aren't that bad.
Last year I had a 2.0T audi A4 that made close to 200 HP. So a 2.0 litre engine, a car thats neither too heavy nor too light and a small turbo. Absolutly 0 lag, regardless how you drive it.
Picking subaru (STI I presume) or mitsu turbo cars is rather a bad choice for comparisson as these try to get as much power as they can from the smallest, most compact engines they can. This results in a 2.0 making well over 270BHP with a very large turbo. (thus the lag)

Having just driven a manual transmission BMW 335i, there is most definitely lag, it certianly not a huge amount but it's definitely there. Driving along in 4th, and then standing on it, there's definitely a half second hesitation before the turbos hit. It's not like a N/A car, but it's the least laggy turbo car I've ever driven.

Quote from BlueFlame :I think your wrong there, Porsche engines are in teh back, apart from the oddly crap 928, 968 and 944 which aren't popular enough to want to put into a game tbh.

The FZ50 engine is in the back to...
The 928 was hardly crap by the way.

Big Audi and VW man me, they just have character like no other cars could handle.

What motor is in, a 5pot or 4 banger?

I like it, I'm even warming up to the wing. The engine is probably the 20v turbo 5 cylinder, at least I hope so I love that engine!

Quote from mrodgers :Quick off-topic question for you. What is the foam disposable cup you would put hot coffee in such as when you stop at a corner store for some coffee in the morning? I am pretty sure what your answer will be as it is the same as using NOS to describe nitrous oxide.

A polystyrene thermal insulated cup of course!
